Hi! I’m Mudita Jagota, from Faridabad. I’ve recently graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi – B.A. (Hons.) Psychology. I will now be pursuing M.A. (Applied Psychology) from Jamia Millia Islamia University.
I was diagnosed with SMA when I was one year old. Although I don’t have any memory of how exactly I was diagnosed, I’m pretty sure it must have come as a shocker to my parents. However, my parents have never made me feel any less of myself. They have forever encouraged me to go higher and higher and achieve all that I desire. I Whatever I am today is solely because of my mother and my father. My mother has taught me to fight for myself by being assertive and my father has taught me patience. I hope I make them super proud some day!! I love to live life on my own terms. I try, as much as possible, to not let my disability cause any hindrance in whatever I wish to do. I travel in the metro, go for road trips, like going out with friends, love trying different cuisines at various restaurants, absolutely love watching movies and attending concerts and enjoy my life to the fullest.
I am fortunate enough to have wonderful friends in my life as well who have not only accepted me as who I am but have also showered me with abundant love and care. They have been my pillars of strength throughout. I would specially mention my best friend here, Dhruv Beniwal, who is so affectionate and considerate that whenever he goes out to a restaurant or any other place on his own, he makes sure to check whether it’s wheelchair accessible and if I can go there too. All my friends have always made me feel inclusive and one of their own. I think they know my needs better than I myself know. Haha!! I’m not saying that I’m always this encouraged or happy. There are times when I feel sad, when I feel a little weak and I cry too. But on such days, I think of all the good things in my life and tell myself that I have two options : either be unhappy and live a gloomy life or be cheerful and cherish all the beautiful moments in my life. Till date, I have chosen the second option.
